Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning contest where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
