Followers Call for Custody of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who leaped a fence and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely friendship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, winning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
