Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at 60 Years Old.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a statement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
