This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the character of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
