Vinted Members Express Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
